Story
The past few months have been tough for everyone but coronavirus has especially hit people affected by dementia and continues to disrupt lives. So that's why Mel and I are lacing up our trainers, donning some fancy dress and taking on Run for Dementia. Please donate to support us and ensure Alzheimer's Society can be there for the people who need them most.
We are neighbours that didn’t know each other before Covid who have become friends and kept each other sane(ish) during lockdown!
Jo’s Story - I’m running to raise money as I have experienced the devastating effects of Dementia. My hope is one day there will be a cure, so other families won’t have to go through this in the future.
My dad was diagnosed 6 years ago and I received much needed support, helping me understand, communicate and care for my dad who continues to suffer from this awful disease.
Because of covid, I have had limited visits with him which has caused an even more rapid deterioration, so I will be starting and ending the challenge from his care home. Any donations, big or small will be really appreciated.
Mels Story - Last April, I lost my grandad who had been diagnosed with dementia a couple of years earlier.
Due to covid, I wasn't able to be with my family at the time or attend his funeral. We haven't been able to get together to give him the send off that he truly deserved. I am running (albeit, probably sometimes through gritted teeth!) to give him that send off and to raise awareness and money for all those affected by dementia.
Any donations to help us along the way would be hugely appreciated!
