Story
My name is Stuart Brown and this page is for anyone who has experienced the pain, change and confusion Alzheimer's can bring into people's lives. Anyone wanting to run for, support, or donate to Alzheimer's Society in 2019, you can do it here. Good on you!
My Dad, Andrew Ramsay Brown, was born in 1947. He is a highly caring, intelligent man with 5 children and 6 grandchildren. He worked extremely hard in life as a principal civil engineer in public services for over 25 years and was involved in the construction of some of the very first motorways in the UK.
In addition to this, he raised 5 children that have gone on to excel in their respective fields of medicine, retail, business and construction. Working extra jobs as a taxi driver in order to pay the bills was never something he was afraid of to provide for his children and his caring, crazy hardworking nature has had an amazing influence on many people.
Andy retired on ill health following a heart attack at work several years ago, and was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's in July 2017.
His caring spirit, positivity and amazing personality remain but it is unbelievably difficult and heartbreaking to see how this disease can imprison a persons' mind and body.
Not a single person should have to go through this which is why I will be running a marathon in May 2019 to support Alzheimer's society. They have been a fantastic support to dad, my mum and our family so far offering visits advice and listening. Let's ensure this support can continue for anyone affected by this, and one day lead to a cure.
Any support for our cause is forever appreciated, be it a small donation to the Alzheimer's Society or even a message of support or advice for my Dad or the family we'll all be thankful. Thanks for reading!
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
