Story

I am excited to be running the 2023 United Airlines NYC Half on March 19th on behalf of Good Grief. This will be my second time giving 13.1 a spin. I previously ran the 2019 United Airlines NYC Half with Row New York, an organization that I was a part of and will forever have a special place in my heart. If I ran another half, I knew I wanted to once again work with an organization that holds meaning for me and has a message that I connect with.

Good Grief builds resilience in children, strengthens families, and empowers communities to grow from loss and adversity. They stand on the front lines supporting grieving children and families wherever they are, whenever they need it, for as long as they need it. One in seven kids will experience the death of a parent or sibling before the age of 25.

I represent that one.

Losing my dad at 15 changed my life and how I saw the world and related to those around me. My family had so much support during our most traumatic time but this isn't common for all families. Grief is so complex, misunderstood and sometimes unspoken. Through loss, there is growth, strength and pain. But memories of my dad and others I have lost, including my dear friend Renata, give me joy. I have met and have close friendships with others who have lost their fathers. These are some of the most valuable relationships in my life.  This one is for my fellow #DeadDadsClub members, or as we sometimes call it "DDC". This one is for my endlessly supportive other half/brother Alexander and my truly extraordinary mother Pique to whom I owe everything. Special shoutout to all of my amazing friends who have supported my running journey thus far!!

Without the right support, the traumatic experience of losing a parent can result in long term mental and physical health problems such as anxiety and depression. The need for Good Grief's free programs continues to grow.

If you have the means, please consider donating in honor of a loved one you have lost. Please consider donating if you believe in me! Good vibes only! No donation is too small!! But if funds are low, I will also take supportive "you've got this" texts and manifestations of a potentially sub-2 hour half on a wonderfully sunny day in March.

Join me in changing the future for grieving kids!! Thank you!

Dad, I love you!
