Burnsy Runs 11 Marathons in 11 Days

11 Marathons in 11 Days · 7 September 2016
Hi there. My name is Stephen Burns and I have been working as a firefighter at Cowcaddens community fire station for the last eight years.
I am going to be undertaking a challenge that will see me run from John O'Groats to Glasgow. I will cover a distance of just over 300 miles, working out at 11 marathons in 11 days. I am going to run this challenge completely self-supported meaning I have to carry all my equipment with me, navigate my route and source all my own food. I will carry my home on my back, including my tent, sleeping bag and a single change of clothes!
The challenge starts on Monday the 3rd October at Duncansby Head lighthouse and finishes in George Square in Glasgow.
My job means I witness firsthand the devastating effects that fire brings to families in my area, particularly to children. The children's burns unit in the Royal Hospital for Children already does a fantastic job of caring and rehabilitating children from all over Scotland who have been burned by fire and I want to aid the unit by raising funds and awareness for the fantastic work they do.
Do you feel this is something that you would like to contribute to? Any amount that you could spare will make a real difference to a child's life and would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please think about me as I am sleeping in my one man tent up in the Highlands of Scotland in October...!
