Story
As a kid I remember hearing that the Rhino was endangered and close to becoming extinct. I found that so hard to grasp, that people would let it come so far. On tv I would see commercials to raise money and I expected that that would get people to work together and fix it.
Now thirty-some years later the problem only seems to have gotten worse. If we don't stand up and do something we will lose this amazing animal forever. So I'm standing up, not just that, I'm running while I'm at it. I'll be running the London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for the dire situation the Rhino is in.
Rhinos are at a crisis point. Today, three of the five species of rhino are Critically Endangered, meaning they face an extremely high chance of extinction in the wild; two of these species have fewer than 80 animals surviving. We can halt and eventually reverse the twin threats of poaching and habitat loss so that no species of rhino are at risk of extinction. At the heart of this work is supporting the people tasked with monitoring and protecting the rhinos, ensuring they have the resources they need to work safely and effectively.
