Run 50k 4 Kev in aid of City Hospice - September 2021

Losing Kev at the age of 51 to the cruel disease of lung
cancer has been heartbreaking. It’s devastated us as a family and his many friends. Our grief over the past few months is overwhelming. To watch Kevin - a 19 minute park- runner and 4 times a week gym-goer - having to rely on us for everything was beyond words.

But keeping Kevin at home - safe from Covid - thanks to the wonderful support of the City Hospice helped us beyond measure in the darkest of times. City Hospice nurses Stevie and Alan made sure Kevin’s symptoms were under control. They knew what was happening - they had seen it before no doubt - but their care for us was immeasurable. We want to give back to this amazing charity that looks after people in their own homes in Cardiff. Combining that love Kevin had for the outdoors - be it a run or a walk - to raise funds for City Hospice will be our way to simply say ‘thank you’. We thought of a challenge and that is to complete 50k in September. We have already raised £3,200, please help us get to £10k in the Kevathon - buy a Run 50k 4 Kev t-shirt, put your trainers on, log your miles and fundraise - thank you 💙

You will need to let me know your name and t-shirt size by 11^th August 2021. These cost £10 each. I will arrange collections from my garden from 25^th August onwards. I would appreciate if you could pay up front for your t-shirt to help cover the cost. You can do this by direct messaging me for my details.

From September 1^st 2021, you can take on any challenge
you like, you can walk or run, or cover your favourite Park Run route – we would love to know how you will be getting involved so please do share on the Facebook page. Keep an eye out on our Run 50k 4 Kev Facebook page as we will be adding some casual events that you can take part in.

£10,000 would help cover the cost of 67 days of specialist
palliative nursing care for people on our community.

Or £10,000 would help cover the cost of the whole City Hospice
Nursing team for a whole week based on all 14 nurses working out in the communities of Cardiff.

£10,000 would also help cover 334 hours of counselling sessions to
people who are experience a bereavement.
