Story
We're running in aid of Doctors for Nepal. This fantastic charity enables students from poor rural communities to train to become doctors and nurses. After completing their training these dedicated students will return to work in the communities they came from, where typically there will only be 1 doctor for every 100,000 people! DFN's work is providing a sustainable way to improve rural healthcare and provide life-saving care.
We're medical students from the UK who are planning on doing our elective placement at a DFN supported hospital in Nepal. We'll spend a month with a DFN alumni doctor in Kalikot District Hospital, where the staff manage everything from everyday GP issues to emergency caesarean births, with relatively few resources. We're incredibly excited to see the great work of DFN and to experience life and healthcare in Nepal.
We want to show our appreciation for DFN's support in coordinating our placement by raising as much as we can by running, stumbling and limping our way around Brighton, to help support the vital work the charity is doing. We've secured our own places in the run and our elective isn't costing DFN anything, so all of your donation will go to the charity.
