Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Cancer has touched many people’s lives and if you haven’t had a relative or friend who hasn’t had or doesn’t knows someone who has had cancer you are very lucky.
I have done several things for charity in the past, little things like having sponges thrown at me, hosting race night nights and football tournaments and jumping out of aeroplanes or helicopters, but generally nothing that was exceptionally physically exerting. As anybody who knows me can vouch, I am no runner these days and that makes this event a little more daunting than if it were 15 years ago when I was still playing football and such.
In June my wife did the Race for Life at Haigh Hall and at the time I remember saying (and so did she) that if there was a male version of the race then I’d be well up for doing it. Then came the bombshell that there was a male version in Wigan, run by the Rotary Club and also helping a Cancer Charity.
Cancer has affected me a couple of times over the years, a friend has just recently died of Cancer and my Aunt is terminal. The Run for Life takes place at Haigh Hall on the 25th September 2011 and I am asking that as many people as possible can sponsor me to raise funds to help eradicate this most awful of diseases. If you haven’t been affected by this disease you are one of the lucky ones. Help us make sure that there is new money coming in to help researchers and specialists find ways of curing or at least preventing this disease.
