Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I ran the Great North Run!! I got the T-Shirt. I can see why my dad did it, i'm going to do it again next year. I did it in 2hrs 37mins [with a toilet break so take 5mins off that please ;-) ] so I've a time to beat.

Please keep up the good work and sponsor me! I'm so pleased to have already raised so much to help people with dementia. MASSIVE THANKYOUS to everyone who has sponsored me so far.

I'm going to be running the Great North Run in September. That's 13 miles. At the moment I don't run. I hardly walk. It's going to be hardwork. I'm going to spend the rest of winter, spring and summer training and I think by way of reward you should sponsor me. All the money will go straight to Alzheimer's Society.

Reasons for running.

1. I need to get fit.

2. People with dementia need my help.

3. I'm from Newcastle and think running around home might be nice.

4. I need to see why my Dad ran it so many times.

5. I want the T-Shirt.

My Granda, Alan, has dementia. I work with people with dementia. Dementia is not fun. Alzheimer's Society do a power of work to help and support those with dementia and their carers. They're also working hard at the research end of things.

People with dementia need my help. People with dementia need your help.

£12.50 could enable one caller to the Alzheimer's Society Dementia Helpline to receive the advice and support they need.

£50 could pay for a PhD researcher for a day to continue vital research into understanding the causes of dementia.

£100 could pay for a brain scan for a participant in a clinical trial to help improve diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.

£200 could help run one session of 'Singing for the Brain', an Alzheimer's Society activity that enables people with dementia and their carers to engage in the benefits of structured community singing.

Seeing the total get closer and closer to my target will really help me in my training. No matter how little you can give please do so and make me smile and so many people with dementia smile too.

Here's the serious spiel....Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Alzheimer's Society and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please donate now.

Update #1 I do run. I run with a bumbag on and even allow myself to be seen running around London Fields.

Update #2 I ran around fields in France risking life and limb. The dogs tried to sabotage me and so did some cows.

Update #3 I ran with Cathy Foster the other day in a fancy pink top and the Alzheimer's Society sweat band is on order. Sponsor Cathy too if you can :-)

Update #4 Running in the sunshine is hard but it'll all be worth it.

Update #5 All this fundraising is really spurring me on. Thank you :-)
