Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This is a team page, for: John Aplin, Daniel Brison, Carolyn Jones, Lizzie Mann, Isabel Paterson, Peter Ruane, Adam Stevens, Roger Sturmey & Melissa Westwood.
We are all part of the team working at the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre at the University of Manchester, carrying out research into some of the causes of pregnancy loss and infertility. Research at the Maternal and Fetal Health is generously supported by Tommy's The Baby Charity.
1 in every 250 UK babies dies before birth (stillbirth), and around the world 2 million babies are stillborn every year. This is heart-breaking for every single family, and will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
This Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021 (9th-15th October 2021) MFHRC researchers are stepping up to raise money for Tommy’s in order to continue this life saving research. We pledge to take at least one step for each one of the 2 million stillborn infants and their families. By running, walking, hopping, skipping and everything in between, our rainbow coloured teams will compete to take the most steps and to raise the most money to smash this target.
Our team challenge is rather simple - we are going to virtually walk to each other's houses and then to St Mary's hospital, in Manchester. However, while we collectively work at the University of Manchester, our team live far and wide across the North of England and into Wales! So the walk will be a relay covering the distance from a village in North Yorkshire, through the Peak District to the Brecon Beacons, and then back to Manchester - some 395 miles. Each step taken by the team will be one toward the overall target of 2 million steps taken during Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Please support - however you can. Every little bit really does help!
