I am taking the leap. I know it will be hard, but at least I can eat some pasta, right?

Earlier this year, I got the chance to see first hand how much harder it is for girls to go to school in some of the world's poorest communities. 

Girls' education is too often seen as not worth it, since a girl will one day get married and leave the family anyway. Girls also tend to be given more chores around the house, falling behind on school work as a result. Child marriage and sexual violence affect girls disproportionately. Even their periods can get in the way, as the lack of access to water, sanitary pads and pain killers keeps them away from school. 

Around the world, twice as many girls as boys will never even start school.

ActionAid is doing great work across the world helping girls go to school and stay there. That is why I am running the London Marathon in support of their work. Helping even just one girl access education is worth it. Your donation can change lives.
