The 2.6 Challenge · 26 April 2020 ·
As many of you know, our lovely mum Katie has metastatic breast cancer in her lungs, lymph and bones, diagnosed in February this year. We are really lucky that she is still being treated by Guy’s hospital during coronavirus; not everyone is so fortunate.
We want to make sure that there’s more research done into the long term trajectory of this disease. Katie was first diagnosed in 1994 and this is fourth and most serious reoccurrence. She has done so well because of the research that has been done during that time, but in order to ensure continued life much more needs to be done to understand advanced breast cancer.
We would really appreciate your support with our collective endeavour - Joe and Sophie will be running 26 miles over 7 days in support of Breast Cancer Now (Sophie doing laps of the garden, a sort of prison break activity; Joe doing laps - safely - somewhere in South London). Issie will also be partaking in these activities as a glamorous mascot while Roger will do 2.6km throughout the week. Katie and Molly the dog will be intermittent surprise(d) cheerleaders.
The challenge will commence tomorrow Monday 27th April and run through until Sunday 3rd May. Times may vary but expect daily updates 😊
Thank you xxx
Save the UK's CharitiesGeneral fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
