Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm normally a climber but last year after going on a running date (!!) with my new girlfriend, I thought I'd get back into my trainers and hit the streets.
The girlfriend has supported disabled members of her family and has seen how hard this is for them, as well as the stress and poverty this can throw families into.
I'm running because I can help those who can't.
Many people with disabilities have little options, are unemployed, uninspired, bored and living with nothing. Only 50% of disabled people work and it's even worse for those with learning disabilities - only 7% get the opportunity to do so, and many want to!
Action for Kids, is a disability charity which actually takes ACTION; there's not much talk, just real results.
AFK supplies wheelchairs and equipment (not available on the NHS) so young people have a little more freedom, get out of the house and not always depend on others. They also work with schools to guide young disabled children into adult learning, or into a job which they can stay in, develop and thrive.
You'd think these services would be provided by the government but mostly they're not. In these times, it's up to those with a little more to help those children who face such hardships and not much of a future.
Please support me on my run and make a big difference for these kids!
