Story
Why Diabetes UK?
I am raising money for Diabetes UK because it is cause close to my heart. My father has suffered from it throughout my life and a close friend's son has braved it his entire life.
There are many fantastic charities vying for our attention at the moment, but the work that Diabetes UK does supporting sufferers and researching cures (https://www.diabetes.org.uk/diabetes-the-basics/is-there-a-cure) is vital. Please donate generously.
A word on me running the marathon
I've always had a hankering to run it, but 'knew' there was no chance I could run it.
About seven years ago I decided I really needed to lose some weight and get fit. My kids were leaving me for dust, I was out of breath, uncomfortable and worried about getting diabetes.
I've been doing lots of strength work and a fair bit of cycling but over the last year or so I started running more. As I added a few more miles on here and there, 26.2 miles looked hard, but not impossible. Which is why I'm now running the marathon.
Where I'm up to
At the time of writing this I've done 39 marathon training runs, covering about 400 kms and have run for about 40 hours. I find it more than a little mind blowing that I've managed to get this far. Your sponsorship will mean a great deal to me and provide significant inspiration to get me over the line.
