Story
Recently I lost my closest uncle and I wanted to find a way to honour him. I was thinking what I could do and I thought to myself, what would Forrest Gump do.
So I will be running 7 marathons from the 15th-22nd of August to start off my trip around the Uk coastline (approximately 8000 miles!)
I will be running this in memory of my recently passed uncle, Alan Delaney.
The reason for this is to donate money for Colchester general hospital. Specifically the Layer Marney ward and Gainsborough ward.
Unfortunately my uncle Alan had some problems with addiction in his early life and ended up destroying his body.
After becoming sober he had to live with various illnesses as his body slowly died. The staff at Colchester general hospital always went above and beyond their call of duty to make him as comfortable as possible.
My uncle was a very inspirational man who motivated me a lot to keep on going.
I will honour him by trying the HARDEST thing that I've ever done by running around the UK, but starting it with 7 marathons in 7 days. I have never done anything remotely close to this before. I have ran a few marathons and a 34 mile ultra marathon, but nothing to this level of endurance.
I will be starting at the beach in Manningtree and will run a marathon a day.
After the 7 marathons, i will start making my way around the rest of the UK coast over the course of this next year. I will sleep where i finish and wake up and start running the following day.
If a bit of land is attached to the mainland by a bridge, i will count that as a part of the lap.
Please Donate money to help push me through this challenge and help me raise money for a good cause.
The Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity raises money to improve facilities, fund new equipment, provide additional services, support staff development and initiate local medical research and innovative projects at The East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. We always ensure that your kind gifts and donations benefit the area of the hospital or community service that you choose. Every donation is greatly appreciated and makes a real and positive difference to the experience of being in hospital.
