The Welsh 3000s Challenge - 18th June in support of Maggies Center, Wirral
What will I be doing:
15 Mountains in Snowdonia over 3000ft
30 Miles
14,000ft of ascent (1/2 the height of Everest)
In 24 Hours - with no transport
In order to complete the Welsh 3000s Challenge we will be required to have been at the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000ft in Snowdonia within 24 hours, without using any form of transport. With over 4,000 metres of ascent we will have walked half the height of Everest by the end of the challenge.
We are lucky to be in the expert hands of Mick Caren from https://instagram.com/peakelevationuk?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= on the day & he wants it done in 12 to 18 hours, so a far from shabby pace will have to be set. To say it’s going to be a massive physical and mental challenge for me personally is an enormous understatement!
But I will start the Welsh 3000 Cancer free & end it Cancer free so I am struggling to align one days struggle up & down some mountains in Wales with what I see the fierce, brave, warriors deal with day in day out when I visit the Maggies Center at Clatterbridge on the Wirral each time I take my precious Pippa for treatments or scans. Maggies https://www.maggies.org/our-centres/maggies-wirral/ for me personally is the most extraordinary tranquil oasis made possible by https://stevemorganfoundation.org.uk & brought to life by the extraordinary staff & the volunteers of everything I need every time I step through the door. Maggie's has been the softest of places for me to land at the hardest of times, which is why I’ve set a goal of trying to raise £1000 with your generosity to support the amazing work they all do.
