Story

At 7 years old I first heard the word 'cancer'. It was spoke about in hushed tones to describe what my nan had but meant nothing to me, nor was it a word I feared or gave a second thought to. It was only when my nan passed away from cancer that I realised what it meant; heartache, tears and immense sadness.

Just 18 months later, I lost my other nan to the same illness. It then really became something I was terrified of and never wanted to be touched by it ever again. Regretfully at 16, cancer once again broke my heart when my beloved uncle succumbed to the same illness.

Cancer really has stole so much happiness in my life and my families. Even when people I love dearly have fought this illness with success, I can never fully forget the hurt it has caused or the devastation it left behind.

Macmillan was a charity that offered help and support throughout the journey of all the people I love who have either lost their lives or survived cancer. Not only did they help the person affected by the illness, they also supported their family and friends as well.

Which is why I have chosen to run the London Marathon 2024 for Macmillan Cancer charity. To honour the memory of Nanny Rene, Nanny Hazel and Glenn but also for all the survivors of this cruel disease and all our families.

Thank you for reading my story, I appreciate and am truly grateful for every donation I receive.
