Story
In this very special dinner party cook-along, Wagamama's head chef Steve Mangleshot will be showing us how to cook Ruby's favourite dishes including Yasai Katsu Curry and Gyoza.
Ruby was 17 years old and half way through her A levels when she was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma. After 10 gruelling months of treatment, mostly as an inpatient, her cancer relapsed, this time as T-cell leukaemia and she tragically died in May 2020.
Despite amazing progress in treating lymphoma and leukaemia, around 150 children and young people die of blood cancer each year. T-cell blood cancer remains particularly challenging. Ruby asked that money be raised in her memory to help fund research into more effective treatments.
Ruby LOVED Wagamama's and craved their food all through her treatment. When her cancer relapsed, and the country was in lockdown, our dear friend Boo contacted Wagamama's and asked if they might be able to deliver Ruby's favourite meal. Their head chef Steve Mangleshot personally cooked an amazing dinner and delivered it to our house. It was just a couple of days before Ruby died.
All proceeds from this event will go towards the fund Ruby's family have set up in her name with Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group. And Wagamama's will very generously match all tickets-donations up to £5k!
