Story
Hello everyone and thanks for clicking through.
I’m trying to raise £5,000 and awareness for the charity Ovarian Cancer Action in memory of my amazing Aunt, Vicky Jacobs who died just before the pandemic. She was a true force of nature and leaves a huge hole in our family’s life. We miss her every day.
During her 5-year struggle with ovarian cancer, Vicky never complained and was incredibly grateful for the immunotherapy treatment that gave her an 18-month reprieve from the disease – a treatment that had never before been tried for her type of cancer.
While it gave her time to tick off more of the things she wanted to do, she was very aware that so many other women aren’t so lucky. Vicky poured her energy and influence into improving the odds of survival for the next generation, and was the driving force behind this incredible national campaign to help women, she would never know: I WILL SURVIVE
If you didn’t already know, Ovarian cancer is now the leading cause of death from gynaecological cancer in the UK with over 7,000 women diagnosed every year. It is the sixth most common cancer in women and the overall five-year survival rate for women with ovarian cancer is just 43%. It’s shocking.
BUT when ovarian cancer is diagnosed at an early stage the survival rates for five years or more are as high as 90%. Crucially Ovarian Cancer Action campaign to increase awareness of symptoms – early detection saves lives.
I am donating £500 to kick-off this appeal and will be giving the cause my ongoing support by becoming an Ambassador for OCA which I am thrilled about.
If you’d like to donate, whatever you give will be massively appreciated not just by me but by everyone working towards improving the survival odds for the next generation of women and girls diagnosed by this awful disease. And by the survivors themselves.
Thank you so much, love Ruby xxx
