Story
I am fundraising for the MS Society on behalf of my nephew Yousif Ahmed. Proceeds will aid further research into the cause and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This cause is one that is particularly close to my heart and I believe there is always a need for more research. I wish to raise as many funds and awareness as possible to support my nephew
Yousif was diagnosed with MS unexpectedly at the age of 26. He started to develop unusual symptoms such as numbness to his legs which radiated to the rest of his body. As a result, Yousif was faced with many challenges and fear for the future was inevitable. This was heartbreaking for his family and friends.
Once Yousif received a diagnosis and was advised that this rare disease could potentially be life threatening, a positive mindset was key at this stage. From a disease that left him bed ridden for two years, unable to walk, pick up small items and not even being able to dress or bathe himself, through trust in God and a positive mental attitude Yousif has managed to lead a lifestyle equal to any other person.
A young man who went from an avid sportsman participating in various sports such as football being his main hobby, tennis and squash to a young man who was in the constant care of his family. 13 years later Yousif is still undergoing treatment for MS with monthly monitoring and observations to ensure the MS is not attacking his nervous system.
Thankfully Yousif is now able to work, drive and able to carry out normal daily activities, this would not be possible without the advances in research, technology and medication for which the MS Society is a key contributor.
Every penny counts and I would be extremely grateful if you could consider contributing to this cause.
Thank you
