Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for my 7th London Marathon.
Many of you will be aware of how much I love animals. I've ran the Marathon 6 times already for Birmingham Dog's Home, and thank you to those who have supported me over the years... but I need your help, this time for the RSPCA!
Although non-animal lovers will find it difficult to understand, but last year was a really tough year for me as we lost a huge part of our family (in every sense). Our 14 stone Newfoundland, Ted, was taken ill during the hot summer, and four days later, he died in my arms.
It was undoubtably one of the saddest days of my life, and in all honesty, I have a tear in my eye writing this. However, moments before taking his final breath's, my heavily-pregnant sister at the time said to him... she was going to name her baby after him.
Unfortunately for the baby, she entered the world one month later as a GIRL... but true to her word, my sister named her Ted! And now I have the greatest little niece that anyone could ever wish for (albeit with a boys name). But in all seriousness, thinking of both the Ted's will help me get through the 26.2 miles, and if I can raise as much money for the RSPCA by doing so then that's great.
The RSPCA are there for animals when they most need help, from a deer trapped in some fencing to a badly abused dog. The network of inspectors, animal centres and volunteer fosterers are on hand to help. The RSPCA take an animal into their care every 8 minutes, any donation you can make will enable them to answer another call for help.
