Fire walk · 3 May 2013

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

One small step for mankind six large steps x 2 for man

Last Friday I did the fire walk not once but twice.  There is a lot of prep re mind over body, being able to do great things, commitment etc but in truth it comes down to a determined walk limiting contact time with the hot charcoals (800 to 1400 degrees C) which in themselves are not very conductive.  The first time my walk was determined and I felt little.  The second time I had to test the limits and slowed the walk and felt pricks of heat.  The following morning I only had a few very small blisters.

It was the people who were scared that impressed me the most as they over came their fear and walked across the hot coals with true courage.

I am still awaiting the official pictures but here are some  fire prep, before, during (immediately prior to my walk) and after.

Thank you for all your support.  In the course of this escapade I had the pleasure of talking to supporters and sponsors, growing friendships in the process and learning of people affected by Alzheimer's disease.

And yes I enjoyed the firewalk!
