Hi Everyone
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have taken on the challenge of attempting to complete the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon in 2017. I am running the Marathon for the RNIB. What price can you put on your eyesight??
I am doing so in Memory of Jean Middleton who was a dear family member who sadly passed away in March last year. Jean suffered with her eyesight during her life and the RNIB were able to support Jean in many ways. One of the main things was there support to her in her campaign for the medication she required to keep her eyesight to be available from the NHS. Jean and the RNIB won the case and the treatment was made available to Jean and other sufferers on the NHS. This treatment ensured that Jean was able to keep her sight for the rest of her life.
Sharon Gardner (my sister in law) Jeans daughter ran the London Marathon last year for the RNIB and i went along to support her. It was a fantastic day and it inspired me to take on the challenge. My son Lee Gardner and Daughter Kirsty Gardner have also completed the Marathon.
I only started running 2 years ago aged 55 and have so far completed the birmingham half marathon in 2015 which to date is the furthest i have run. I enjoy my running and while this challenge is daunting i am really looking forward to taking it on.
