Story
Today I completed the Royal Parks Half marathon in London. The furthest I'd ever ran in my life prior to today was 5k (twice, in 27 years) and heading into this challenge with absolutely zero training was a pretty ridiculous idea.
I was running for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and it would be amazing to raise some money for the charity that offers so much support to the sufferers of this illness.
I originally signed up for this last year thinking it'd be a great motivation to start running and keep fit over lockdown. But with the event getting pushed back time after time and my own catastrophic preparation failings, I found myself facing up to this challenge with nothing but stubbornness and hope to offer.
I managed to far exceed my expectations and really enjoyed the experience, the atmospheric around the event and support from the spectators was a joy.
