Story
Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women, that’s a 12% overall life time risk of acquiring the disease, however early detection can save lives.
You may have heard that the New Royal Liverpool Hospital will be complete in 2018. Our new Breast Unit will have 3 new mammography machines with 3D technology, and 2 new mammography chairs. This will allow us to image breast tissue in more detail so that we can detect breast cancer at its earliest stage.
The new machines will also help us to visualise cancers in younger breast tissue which is often more difficult to detect.
The machines cost hundreds of thousands of pounds each and we are doing what we can to help our hospital Fundraising team (R Charity) raise £750,000 for the new Breast Unit.
Our dedicated specialist team here at the Breast Unit want the most advanced technologies and treatments for our ladies, and with your help we can accomplish this.
So please join us on our sponsored Wirral Coastal Walk on Sunday the 18th June 2017 to help us achieve our goal. To join the walk please e-mail your name to fundraising@rlbuht.nhs.uk or call 07768508962.
If you aren't able to take part, maybe you could help by making a donation?
