Story
I was lucky enough (I think) to win a ballot for a place in the 2020 London Marathon via the GoodGym running club. Unfortunately, the April event was corona'd out to October and then in August the rescheduled event was also cancelled.
Rather than let my training go to waste, I signed up for the virtual event on October 4th, which can be run from anywhere. While I'm doing it, I'll try and make a small difference and raise some money for Action Aid, who I've been supporting on and off, ever since I got chugged outside Clapham Junction about 20 years ago.
I'll be running the 26.2 miles, probably from my house (I live at the top of a hill, so might as well make the most of it) down to Brighton seafront, then along the undercliff path to Saltdean and back to the pier, two or three times (tbc once I've done the maths).
Plan A: run a disciplined, even pace and finish in 3h35.
Plan B: find it too hard to resist going for sub-3:30, then blow up and get 3h50.
ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. They are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere can create the future they want.
