Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you will have supported my fundraising in 2006 when I first underwent treatment for prostate cancer. I raised well in excess of £1000 that time. However the dreaded C has returned and I will have to undergo more treatment later in the year to hold it at bay for as long as possible. With that in mind I decided I wanted to face another challenge before I became bloatware again from the hormone therapy. Healthwise I've been in pretty good shape recently (until my present Achilles problem) swimming a mile most mornings, cycling 50 - 70 miles most Thursdays and getting in the placings for over 60s in road and fell races. I intend to do a solo cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats starting on June 11th and aiming for a 14 day completion which is a 70 mile a day average. Alison will have her own route-finding challenge in backing me up by car and meeting me for meals and camping/B&B stops. (Your donations won't be going to this side of the venture.) Donations via Justgiving will go to Prostate Cancer UK (as last time) whilst personal donations and sponsorship will go to the Wirral Prostate Cancer Support Group which helps purchase equipment at Clatterbridge Hospital locally. Please help me to achieve (and possibly double) my target of £1000 to give something back to those who will be helping me.
