Story
On 6th October 2013, I will be running The Royal Parks Half Marathon in London - the 13.1 mile scenic route through four Royal Parks (Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James’s Park and The Green Park). For this event, I am hoping to raise as much money as I can for the British Heart Foundation.
Cardiovascular disease is the biggest cause of death in the UK, and can affect anyone at any time. My maternal Grandad Lenny suffered from angina and, despite otherwise being the healthiest and fittest person I knew, suddenly died from a heart attack at the age of 73 in 2001.
Earlier this year, my Dad Shah suffered a heart attack while flying back from Budapest. Having had no previous health issues or family history of heart disease, this came as a shock to him and everyone else. Fortunately, it wasn't major and he is back to full health now, thanks to East Surrey Hospital and the work that the British Heart Foundation carry out everyday.
This is a charity that is - no pun intended - very close to my heart. I hope that you will dig deep and donate what you can, to help the BHF continue their life-saving work.
Thank you.
