Most of you already know the story as to why we fundraise so much for BCH, but here it is again, for those who don’t...
In May 2017 I took Alfie to a&e thinking that he had concussion after bumping his head. Doctors examined Alfie and decided to send Alfie for a MRI scan just to rule anything out (this was due to Alfie not being able to touch the drs finger then his nose) It was at this point our lives changed and we found out that his headaches were actually being caused by a large Brain Tumour. 20hours after been given the news, Alfie received 8hour brain surgery. Although the surgery was a success, there is still some of the tumour remaining. This means that every 6 months Alfie has to have an MRI followed by appointments with Neuro-Oncologist’s to monitor growth and changes, and also his surgeon to discuss chances of future ops. Each appointment with his Doctor or Surgeon costs the NHS just under 300 pound. So myself and my mum are once again fundraising to give back to the hospital that saved my son’s life, and continue to look after him.
In the scariest time of our lives, Birmingham Children’s Hospital were our rock and made us feel safe and secure with the treatment they gave our son, and we will be eternally grateful for everything they have done and continue to do for us.
Any amount would be greatly appreciated!
At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, we believe there’s always more we can do for our sick kids and that’s why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. It’s our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital.
Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home. Your donations are helping us to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases.
