Story
Thank you for visiting the Row the Tyne JustGiving page.
Please support the efforts of all the brilliant (and brave!) rowers who will undertake this challenge to raise funds for The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. For those of you who don't know, The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation supports internationally significant cancer research and treatment at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care and directly benefits cancer patients from across the North East and Cumbria.
Row The Tyne is a team challenge to row a whopping 118,000m – the distance from the source to mouth of the River Tyne!
The rowers will be in a team of up to six people. No one is getting their feet wet; the challenge will take place on Concept 2 rowing machines. Each team will have 10 hours to complete the challenge, an average pace of 2:30 / 500m will achieve this.
We all know people who have been affected by cancer and the devastating effect it can have on the friends and families of those affected. This reality stopped Joel in his tracks in February 2017 with a shock diagnosis of Oropharyngeal Cancer on his tonsil and associated spread to the lymph nodes in his neck. After three individual bouts of surgical treatment, Joel was lucky enough to be given the all clear in May 2017.
Please give generously to ensure others can receive exceptional medical care, support and hopefully, get one step closer to finding
a cure.
