Story

From 12 noon on Friday 9th October, 36 Engineer Regiment & The Queens Gurkha Engineers will take on Kent Police in a head to head challenge which will see them race to the summit of Everest and back (17,696 metres) upon Concept2 Rowers.

The event will take place within Jubilee Square, Maidstone and also include individual races of 500, 1,000 and 5,000 metres, with a 'Base Camp' decider race in the event of a tie.

The winning team will be presented the 36 Engr Regt & The QGE Vs Maidstone Emergency Services Rowing Challenge Cup by the Mayor of Maidstone.

Following the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal on 25 Apr this year, killing more than 8,000 and injuring more than 19,000, it is time that we unite and support the people of Nepal.

This year our Nepalese soldiers; the Gurkhas, celebrate 200 years of service to the Crown, and there is no more fitting or appropriate time to show our support and gratitude than now.

The event is sure to be a lot of fun, so please come on down and support us on the day and pledge what you can!
