Story
OTR is more than just a charity. They are a mental health social movement by and for young people aged 11-25 in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. It's a mental health movement mobilised to support, promote and defend the mental health, rights and social position of young people by providing the safe space, tools and empowerment to young people, to succeed in the face of adversity.
In support of this great charity, and a cause close to my heart, I will be completing 2023 miles of swimming, cycling and running, starting on Sun 14 May with the Bristol Half Marathon, to kick off Mental Health Awareness Week 2023 and finishing on Tue 10 Oct 23, which is World Mental Health Day 2023.
That's a total of 149 days, which equates to 13.6 miles per day!!!
I have a few BIG events planned across the months:
- On 16 July, I will compete in Ironman Vitoria-Gasteiz (140.6 miles)
- On 17 September, I will compete in Weymouth Ironman 70.3 (70.6 miles)
- On 10 October, I will complete the challenge with a marathon run around Bristol, finishing at the OTR Office.
I have chosen these disciplines because they all require me to be outside, connecting with the world. Nature and Exercise are two of the biggest antidotes for poor Mental Health, and I want to use this as an opportunity to raise awareness, as well as funds, for a great cause. Please donate anything you can to support OTR continue their great work in protecting the mental health of young people in Bristol and South Glos.
