It will be a year in September since I lost my beloved Blackie, a little black lab mix who was saved by Dogfriends after being deemed unrehomable by another larger 'rescue' charity due to her being very very scared and overweight. Brave little Blackie taught me many things in life, including how to carry on smiling, and the importance of putting a brave face on when up against frightening situations, how to deal with unkind words, and to keep going when faced with seemingly impossible challenges and how to love, unconditionally. Together our confidence grew, to say we were best friends is an understatement, she was a true soulmate and . Dogsfriends are a very special charity indeed for saving my little girl and many others out there who would have otherwise slipped through the net and had their lives cut short. Participating in this walk will help Dogsfriends carry on their amazing work.

In order to carry on her memory, I would like to invite you and your dogs attend  a Sponsored walk on Sunday 15th September to commence from Bristol Zoo. The walk will be in partnership with Bristol DAWG who also rescue dogs (greyhounds and Lurchers) in Bristol.

The walk includes part of the Bristol Triangle Walk - 10.00am, Sun 15th October. Walkers will have a choice of two walks, one being 5 miles and the other being 10 miles as follows:

The walk will start at 10.00am at Bristol Zoo (plenty of parking in side streets). We will be doing the first part of the Bristol Triangle walk over the downs through Sneyd Park, Stoke Bishop, Sea Mills (approximately 2.5 hours/5 miles), then have a picnic at Blaise Castle Estate, then if people wanted to get the bus back into town they can. The next part of the walk is around Henbury Golf course and back through Westbury on Trym and Henleaze (another approximately 2.5 hours/5 miles) where the walk will terminate at Bristol Zoo.
