Story
I will be skydiving at the end of April with 3 others to raise funds for for Rowan. Please give generously if you are able, because the centre is a real benefit to Zoe and adults with learning disabilities.
There aren't many other communities like Rowan, and it is an oasis of care and acceptance. They need money to help them maintain the work they do and also expand their range of activities to help more people.
Zoe has been going to Rowan for a long time (since she left college). It is an opportunity for her to mix with people of all abilities and feel a true part of the community. She enjoys the music and drama as well as being able to express herself in arts and crafts. She is able to be very expressive.
Visit this blog page on the Rowan website to find out a bit more about Zoe and her experience at Rowan.
More about Rowan:
Rowan is a vibrant, independent registered charity providing an arts centre and forest school for more than 80 adults with learning disabilities living in Cambridgeshire and the adjoining counties. Since 1984 we have provided a safe, creative, and enriching environment where the arts are used as a tool to bring people together and tackle social exclusion. We develop the skills and potential of our students while improving their happiness, health and wellbeing. We also deliver much needed respite to families and carers. It costs over £430,000 a year to run Rowan. We receive some income in student fees but rely on fundraising to cover the full cost of our workshops. We believe that people living with a disability should have the same choice, quality of life, opportunities and aspirations as others and with your support we can continue to make this possible.
