Story

On Monday 2nd July together with my friend Tim Norton, I will set off on a 6 day cycle ride through the stunning French Alps from Geneva to Nice.

The route covers just over 700 kilometres and passes over some of the highest roads in Europe, including 17 mountain passes, 6 of them over 2000 metres.

It's a very tough challenge, traversing six Alpine 'departements' and includes legendary climbs such as the Cormet de Roseland, Col d'Izoard, Col de l'Iseran, Col de Galibier and the Col de Bonette, which is hailed by the French as the highest paved road in Europe.

Completely self-supporting, we are carrying all our kit with us in adapted bags attached to our bikes.

Having been newly appointed as the Cycling Projects 'Wheels for All' co-ordinator for Kendal and the South Lakes, I am raising funds in support of this fantastic charity I now represent.

I believe that cycling should be available for everyone to enjoy, and the funds I raise will go towards making cycling inclusive in the South Lakes area.
