Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Me (Martyn) and my good friend (Jake) have been planning a trip to cycle around England. Instead of cycling up and through we are planning on circumnavigating the whole country following the coast as closely as possible. Starting from Central London we will head down to Dover and join the coast from there. We are two normal guys who are looking to further our endurance scope. We are both keen cyclists and have competed in ultra marathons and Iron Man distance triathlons. We are looking for the next big test, and this bike ride is the first of a bigger idea that is developing.
Something that has never been done before is circumnavigating any of the countries. I have seen people go from the most Southerly point to the most Northerly point but never has anyone gone around the perimeter. The grand plan is to create a large scale triathlon broken up over a few months due to work commitments.
Stage One: Bike England
Stage two: Swim Scotland
Stage Three: Run Wales
Please have a look at our strava route which gives a rough route in which we will be taking.
A few numbers:
2,235 miles
127,367 ft elevation

The whole trip is going to be self supported so all equipment that we will need for the two weeks will be carried by us on our bikes. We have friends that are dotted around the country who will help us out with a place to pitch our tent overnight. But we are solely relying on the kindness of fellow human beings to help us with our quest.
We are doing the trip to push our bodies to the limit but the main reason we are taking on this challenge is to raise money for two very personal charities to us both.
Cancer Research UK and Diabetes UK
Jake has had wave of bad news over recent years with close family members being diagnosed with cancer. Most recently a close family member has moved their wedding forward from August 2016 to April 2015 so they can ensure that these close family members can be there. As we all know a lot of people are left heart broken with cancer but the on going work that cancer research does can help those who are in need of help. The on going support and research charities deliver is second to none and we hope we can help others with our journey.
