Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are all so happy to be able to run or walk (however we can get it done!) this year's Virtual Marathon in support of such an important, generous, and essential charity. Roundabout Dramatherapy offers dramatherapy sessions, giving people of all ages the chance to express, explore, and heal through creativity and play. To continue to be able to offer the exceptional work that they do, they need your fundraising support. If you would like to make a donation it would be greatly appreciated. We definitely wouldn't do a marathon for just anybody....it's a really long way!!
From Xav:
This year some of us are planning to walk our marathon along four sections of the London Loop walking trail. This gorgeous green urban escape links up woodlands, common lands, meadows and park on the outskirts of London.
Our route will start at Hayes Station (near West Wickham), go through Cheyne Wood, Addington Hills, Whyteleafe, Happy Valley, Farthing Downs, Woodcote, Banstead Downs, Nonsuch Park, Ewell, and finishing at Malden Manor Station (a couple of kilometres south of New Malden). We’re expecting lots of cafes and ice cream stops along the way!
Having worked for Roundabout for nearly ten years now, I know how vital their work is and has been to the mental health of hundreds of service users. In the climate of overstretched statutory services in the wake of the pandemic, this support is more vital than ever. I’m walking my marathon to celebrate the dedication of Roundabout to make a difference and help ensure that the charity continues to thrive and grow.
From Jeannie:
I am delighted to be walking the 2022 marathon on the South Downs with other members of roundabout to raise money for Roundabout Dramatherapy.
It is such a privilege to do the work that we do at Roundabout supporting families and children, using Dramatherapy to build positive self esteem, confidence and hope for the future. Life throws challenges at all of us and it is incredibly important that services like Roundabout Dramatherapy are there to help.
Walking running and being in Nature really helps me to relax. It was thrilling to run the marathon last year for Roundabout and I am really looking forward to tackling the 26 miles again at a slower pace enjoying the views on the South Downs. Don’t get me wrong! 26 miles is still a LONG way and who knows what the weather will be like!
We really need your encouragement to keep us going.
Please do support us if you can.
From Mark:
I will be walking west, from Thames Ditton along the Thames Pathway and then retracing my steps after covering half the distance somewhere around Staines. I'm walking for Roundabout because dramatherapists connect with vulnerable children in their own natural 'language'. This can make all the difference when they've been through trauma and are experiencing breakdown and disconnection in their lives.
Thank you for your support. Lots of love, Jeannie, Mark, Xav, Holly, Sarah, Patricia and Nancy.
