Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page.
Cancer touches the lives of many of us and in many different ways. Velindre is a specialist cancer treatment centre who provides services to over 1.5 million people across South East Wales and beyond. Each year they treat over 5,000 new referrals and around 50,000 outpatients. They provide cancer patients and their families with the best possible care and treatment.
This is the third time Rougemont School has run the Newport Half Marathon to support the work of Velindre Cancer Centre.
In previous attempts, we have raised £8,000 (in 2014) and £14,000 (in 2016) to help Velindre continue to support cancer patients and their families.
This year our team is larger than ever, with alumni and parents joining the staff and Sixth Form students. There are over 100 'Rougemont Runners' and we are aiming to raise £20,000 for this incredible charity.
We also, for the first time have a team of over 50 pupils and staff from Years 10-12 who are running the Newport 10km race all in a bid to raise money for Velindre.
There are even a hardcore/idiotic three staff members who have signed up to run the Full Newport Marathon.
Knowing we are raising lots of money for such a fantastic cause will really help to push us through the difficult moments that we will inevitably face on our journey, so please give as generously as you can.
Thank you for you time and generosity.
