Story

Dave’s 5:28 Appeal

CHIP IN £5.28 – THE TIME IS RIGHT TO HELP BREAST CANCER CARE!
Then read the whole story at runningwithdiane.blogspot.co.uk

I did it. In 5hrs 28mins (and 23 seconds) I fulfilled the pledge I made to my late wife Diane 18 months ago to run a marathon in the city where she spent her happy childhood.

It was an incredible feeling – made all the more tense by the fact that with a kilometre to go it looked as if I might not make it. Last year I was too slow to finish. This year I wasn’t going to be denied! Job done. Now the real work begins.

Initially, because of last year’s disappointment at not finishing, especially after the generosity of all my friends, I was reluctant to stick my hand out again and ask for fresh donations, not least in case I cocked it up again.

But I didn’t cock it up this time, and because of the importance of the work Breast Cancer Care does for the hundreds of thousands of women and men diagnosed in the UK with the disease, I’m launching a little appeal which will last a month...

THE 5.28 APPEAL!

To mark the time, I’m asking everyone who feels like chipping in to give just £5.28.

Your £5.28 is enough to pay for someone to learn about breast awareness at a community-based workshop delivered by our expert team.

Double it (£10.56 for those like me who need a calculator to work out the bedside clock at night) and it pays to provide a comprehensive, easy-to-understand information pack for someone newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

Together we are aiming to raise 100 laps of the Rotterdam Marathon route together – raising £528 in total...

That would pay for...

100 PLACES ON OUR WORKSHOPS

Or

50 INFORMATION PACKS TO HELP NEWLY-DIAGNOSED SUFFERERS

Or

Pay for our expert Helpline team and nursing care experts to talk with 22 ANXIOUS WOMEN DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER in confidence about any questions or worries they may have about breast health or as a result of their breast cancer diagnosis or treatment.

WE CAN PROVIDE REAL HELP TO REAL PEOPLE LIVING THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES UNDER THE CLOUD OF A DIAGNOSIS OF BREAST CANCER.

No-one’s life is unaffected by cancer – we all know a relative, friend, colleague or neighbour who has been diagnosed. Your donation goes directly to helping all of them.

And please read my story at: runningwithdiane.blogspot.co.uk
