Story
HELLO! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR VISITING MY MARIE CURIE CANCER CARE FUND RAISING PAGE!! I AM TRYING TO RAISE £2,000 FOR MARIE CURIE CANCER CARE IN HONOUR OF MY GRANNY.
WHY AM I FUNDRAISING FOR MARIE CURIE?
Cancer has been a disease that has plagued my family. Both my gran and auntie have died of cancer. In recent years, I have also had various other aunties and uncles undergoing chemotherapy to fight the disease.
I loved my granny very much and I am very grateful that she had the opportunity to be cared for in a cancer care hospice before she died. Even though I was only 14 at the time, I was very much aware that my gran’s last few months were made so much easier by the expert care and attention provided by the nurses and hospice staff. From that experience, I learnt the value of Marie Curie Cancer Care hospices and the specialist care that they provide for cancer victims.
WHY AM I RUNNING THE LONDON MARATHON?
As a family, we have tried to raise or donate money to Marie Curie and other cancer charities every year, but I always knew that I wanted to do something big, to try and raise as much money as possible for Marie Curie.
I have wanted to run the London Marathon for quite a few years now, but promised myself that I would not do so until I could to run for Marie Curie Cancer Care. I have had the opportunity to run the London Marathon for other charities in the last few years, but have always declined. This year (finally after years of trying!) I was fortunate enough to be chosen to represent Marie Curie. As you may have guessed...I am pretty excited about this. I really hope that I can raise as much money as possible for such a worthwhile charity. It is with that in mind, that I have been out running six days a week, in the pitch dark (6am winter runs mmm), snow and freezing cold (what fun!)!
WHAT CAN YOU DO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP SUPPORT MARIE CURIE?
I want to help Marie Curie to continue to run their hospices and to continue to carry out their research programmes to detect and treat cancer. I know that times are tough for everyone, but even the smallest donation can make a huge difference:
£1 | = | pays for a patient information pack, giving practical advice about Marie Curie’s Nursing Service |
£5 | = | pays for bereavement booklets to support 20 children |
£20 | = | pays for a Marie Curie Nurse for one hour in a patients home |
£30 | = | buys a nurse’s uniform |
£35 | = | pays for a slide sheet, used by Marie Curie Nurses to move patients in bed |
£160 | = | pays for a full shift for a Marie Curie Nurse in a patients home |
So if you can, please do help Marie Curie and donate! Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Marie Curie Cancer Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR READING THIS PAGE AND IF YOU CAN, PLEASE SPONSOR ME!
Thanks
