Story
Two nudist, six bowls of porridge and 78 miles of marathon! Read my diary about the 3 day challenge...the charity have sensored some of it!
Following unimpressed comments at Christmas from my mother about my fluctuating weight issues and the realisation that my body mass index had hit 29 (putting me in the substantially overweight category), I decided that the time had come to hit the pavements and the hills and to attempt to run the Jurassic Coast 3 Day Challenge (essentially 3 marathons in 3 days over the Dorset coastline). This has been described as: "The Mother of all hilly runs. 78 miles of very steep rocky cliff paths, shingle, sand, mud and some tarmac if you are lucky..."
Clearly, given my extensive ultra-marathon running background and two months of training, this should be easy but I hope that this will not put you off donating to a very worthy cause.
The muscle fatigue I will experience during day 3 of the race is absolutely nothing compared to the pain which muscular dystrophy sufferers experience every day - your donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign will be hugely important and I am most appreciative of your support.
Muscular dystrophy is a devastating, incurable and life-limiting condition that causes muscles to waste away, making people progressively weaker and preventing them from performing simple tasks that we take for granted, such as turning the pages of a book or brushing their hair. There is no cure for the condition.
For more information on how the funds I raise will further the work of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign visit www.muscular-dystrophy.org.
Once again, thank you for your support and I look forward to sharing a beer with you all soon.
