Story
Dementia has hit my family hard in recent years and I have just about had enough of it!
When I was 18 my Gran succumbed to alzheimers disease and to those who knew her it was a massive loss. She was simply one of the most fantatsic women I have ever met, strong willed, funny and kind.
Then a few years ago my Aunt Betty in Perth, Australia, began a steady slide with Alzheimers that has left her virtually house bound with no short term memory. Something which both her and my Uncle, as well as the rest of my cousins out there have to deal with on a daily basis.
Then last January my Nan sadly passed away with dementia making her last few months increasingly confusing and scary.
So what am I going to do about it? Run 13 miles across the hills of Snowdonia - likely in driving rain (as its Wales) - raising money for a charity that helps people struggling with all forms of dementia, the most common of which is alzheimers, providing care, advice and help when families need it most.
So please give what you can and lets help others who struggle with this frustratingly debilitating disease! And lets have it!
