Story
When I entered the hospital delivery room 38 years ago, I passed all control to the midwives. They took great care of me & Karen both in her short life & death. They allowed one of my best friends who worked within the ward at the time, to dress, cuddle & snuggle my girl to her resting place, out with normal practices. Fast forward 24 years & another midwife calling her husband to say she could not come home after her 12 hour shift because she needed to see my first grandson Aidan born safely and how grateful we were to see a familiar face in that theatre as things moved so quickly.
As you all know I only ever run for Brightest Star but I am running the 2022 London Marathon for the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust. Jack with come with me on this journey with his mummy's consent.
This is a registered charity that aims to promote and improve the care of mothers, babies and families through awarding grants and fellowships in support of midwifery education, practice and research. Every woman needs a midwife when she is giving birth and The Iolanthe Midwifery Trust wants midwives to provide the best care they can. Midwives and students can find it hard to get funding for extra training that is why the trust gives out financial awards to enable midwives and student midwives to develop their practice or to improve local services.
Thank you so much on behalf of my beautiful Karen & I xx
