Story
We've all been stuck in a lockdown hole. What if the top of the hole isn't actually the end of the world?
Following the cry for action, I'm going to be heaving myself up and out of my hole to take to the skies for charity! My skydive will be from 3.95km above the ground.
We've proven that one of the most impactful ways to induce positivity over the past years is by lending out a helpful hand to others.
We've come together - against all odds - as we've been physically and socially pulled apart. And what a beautifully human experience that has been.
The charities that I will be lending my own helping hand out to are specially chosen for their foundations of deep-rooted, unfaltering, human love. They are as follows...
React:
- Rapid Effective Assistance for Children with potentially Terminal illnesses.
- A small charity whose care is aimed towards children with life-limiting illnesses in financially disadvantaged households in the UK. They ease the pressures of caring for an ill child, offer respite holidays, and assistance towards end of life costs.
- Their beliefs are fuelled vigorously: that every child should have comfort, dignity, and the opportunity to participate in life as fully as possible.
- Families who have and ill child may find that the best hospital care may be too far from home...
- Ronald McDonald's Houses offer families a place to cook, rest, and recharge for as long as they need, so that their child can receive the best medical care possible.
- Families can stay close by their child at all times, without the stress of extra costs.
- 'It has probably become more dangerous to be a woman than a soldier in an armed conflict.' - Major General Patrick Cammaert, former UN Peacekeeping Commander.
- Women are the targets of sexual violence and are excluded from education and economic resources.
- This charity helps women survivors of war rebuild their lives after a life of violence, poverty, and inequality, through programmes designed to strengthen their education so that they can earn and save money, develop health and well-being understanding, influence decisions that affect their families, and learn about their rights.
