When I was 13 years old we experienced the first ever family member to experience cancer, my grandad George, who suffered from liver cancer and died very shortly after. 

Shortly after this my other grandad developed kidney cancer after he had a kidney transport. He has suffered this for nearly 3 years now and has to go to hospital up to 5 times a week for different treatment. 

My best friends mum suffered with cancer for about a year. She survived.

All these different stories show how cancer affects people in very different ways. Race for life helps raise money for all these treatments and one day maybe there will be a cure and everyone will survive cancer.
