Story
Last year our dear friends, who we met through our NCT class, Annette and Ray lost their beautiful daughter Rosie to cancer. The Rainbow Trust has, and continues to provide invaluable support to Rosie's older sister Beatrice and other children who have found themselves in similar situations. Anyone that knows us will know that running 10K is an exceptionally long way for this group of unfit Mums but, we are running for our friends, to support the Trust and to remember Rosie.
Runners are: Tracy Lazenby, Charlotte Mackie, Jen Vain, Gemma Sullivan, Annette Boxall and Jen Walker
When serious illness affects a child, family life is turned upside down and time becomes more precious than ever. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with a dedicated, expert Family Support Worker. Families are overwhelmed with grief and worry about their child's illness; getting them to hospital appointments that may be hundreds of miles away, all while trying to keep life as normal as possible for their other children. Our Family Support Workers provide bespoke practical and emotional support to all members of the family, where they need it, for as long as they need it. £10 could pay for a basic sensory toy to entertain a seriously ill child with special needs. £26 is enough to pay for an hour of practical and emotional support, £44 could buy a memory box, for all members of the family to capture memories of treasured times.
