Story
To celebrate 50 years of maternity services in the Tower Block at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, I am going to take part in the BA i360 iDrop to raise money for Friends of Brighton & Hove Hospitals. As Head of Brighton Girls school, I know that many of our students will have been born in the Maternity Ward in the Tower, which opened on 4 October 1970.
Brighton Girls has a long history of charitable work in the local community and we have worked with Friends of Brighton & Hove Hospitals for a number of years. This year, we are celebrating and reaffirming our school values of being kind, and being bold.
Katy Wells, from the charity Friends of Brighton & Hove Hospitals, is also an alumna of Brighton Girls and knows just what it means to be both kind and bold. So, when Katy walked into my office and asked me whether I would be willing to do the iDrop to celebrate 50 years of maternity services in the Tower Block at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, how could I refuse?
All I need to do now is to raise £250 for the Friends of Brighton & Hove Hospitals, turn up at the i360 at 6.30am on the 3rd October, take a deep breath...
… and remember to be bold.
