Fundraising for The National Brain Appeal
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am currently training for the London Landmarks Half Marathon in support of the National Brain Appeal charity.
This charity is close to my heart, as my mum passed away suddenly in 2017 from a rare neurological condition called cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
In the last few years prior to 2017, she had suffered intermittently from episodes of loss or confused speech, which were suspected to be small strokes. In addition, her memory was becoming an increasing problem, all very frightening and leading at times to a loss of confidence.
However, she put a brave face on, would still see her friends and family as much as ever, and did not burden people with it. A truly unique woman, fiercely caring and someone with a fantastic sense of humour. She had such a courageous and positive outlook on life to the very end and gave so much pleasure to so many of us.
She was big on charities and gave generously to her favourites, the list of which got longer and longer as the years went by. I know she would be proud that I am running for such an amazing cause. The National Brain Appeal raises money for the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The hospital is one of the world's leading centres for diagnosis, treatment and care of patients suffering from neurological and neuromuscular conditions. Any donations, big or small, would be massively appreciated.
My mum used to always say the phrase ‘dig deep’ and I certainly will be thinking of this to get me round on the day!!
Lot of love, Rosie x
