35km lockdown walk · 28 January 2021

In SolidariTee's 2021 Week of Action, SolidariTee will be running, walking and cycling a collective 1157km, symbolising the journey from Myanmar to Bangladesh, a treacherous journey which many refugees are forced to make.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am not at my fittest but plan to walk 35km to raise awareness about and provide funds for refugees.

I am taking part in the "Journey of Solidaritee" with other Solidaritee representatives to collectively walk the distance from Myanmar to Bangladesh (1157km in total). These locations were chosen in recognition of the Rohingya people who are still searching for hope years after fleeing Myanmar.

As a Jewish woman having just commemorated the atrocities of the Holocaust on Holocaust memorial day, I feel particularly connected to my ancestors' difficult history as Jewish refugees and I therefore want to be part of the solution in helping refugees today.

With every kilometre walked I hope this amazing campaign will raise awareness for the unbearable journeys which so many people are forced to make in search of peace and safety.

Solidaritee provides legal aid to refugees in Greece, working with NGOs to provide 1:1 support support with asylum claims, dealing with family reunification claims and bringing families together who have been separated by wars and crises.

Just £2000 is enough to fund a Greek lawyer working at an NGO team for a month and raising awareness about the inhumane conditions refugees face is also really important.

Any donations big or small would be massively appreciated to help this amazing cause.
