For those of you who have known me long enough, it might seem surprising that I've managed over a year without putting myself through some ridiculous feat of exercise (somehow even a term's worth of 5am rowing starts didn't manage put me off it completely..) Anyway, for reasons that are seeming increasingly beyond us as the day draws nearer, me and Patrice (my dad) will be running the London Marathon this April. We are running for Orchid, the UK's leading charity focusing on male cancers. Orchid funds world class research programmes and provides crucial support to those affected by the disease, as well as raising awareness through educational campaigns. Orchid does hugely important work in the fields of prostate, testicular and penila cancer. These are cancers which affect a large number of men of all ages. Furthermore, these are cancers which perhaps don't enjoy the same degree of public interest and support as female cancers. Too many of our friends and family members have been affected by cancers of all kinds, and Patrice and I feel strongly that this is a charity we are fully behind. We are proud to be running for Orchid, and we're asking all our friends and family to do whatever they can to support us and to donate whatever they can to Orchid.

There are some other reasons why you should support us, most notably that:
1) You could get to watch me run. Trust me, it is a funny sight for all (except probably me) (many will recall the fact I tend to resemble a malcoordinated beetroot)
2) Patrick is actually good at running and might put in a respectable time
I know that most of you are all students and dollar is hard to come by. But I'm not asking for monster donations, please, as much or as little as you feel you can would be hugely appreciated. You can support me by donating on this page, or by texting RKEM95 to 70070 you donate £10.
and once you have done that then you can beat me out of bed in the morning with a stick and a spatula. Or come running with me (it's good for you too!!) or just lie in bed and imagine me plodding away safe in the knowledge you've given us some money, job done.
Anyway, thanks so much everyone and sorry for the plug, I'm sure you will all be getting sent a lot of these.
Lotsa love and huge thank you's.
